Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada and raised in the United States. She has worked as media critic since. Feminist Frequency is a web site which hosts video and commentary on the representation of gender roles in pop media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian has been a blogger, critic of the media and a prestigious feminist for more than 10 years. She is the creator and director of executive for Feminist Frequency which is an education, non-profit website that explores representations of women in pop culture narratives. She is committed to deconstructing stereotypes about women and how they are depicted in pop culture. Furthermore she has a mission to increase awareness of online harassment directed towards women as well as marginalized groups of people. Sarkeesian is a graduate in social and political thinking from York University. As a public speaker, she is extremely sought-after and has been a speaker at TEDxWomen XOXO and United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was fascinated by the gender issue and feminist movements from a very young age. In 2009, while continuing to study at the university level she launched her Feminist Frequency web site. The ambitious lady planned to start an internet-based program that would examine the gender roles in games however, she was also the subject of a harassment campaign online. The woman was not stopped from the attack, and actually, it just reinforced her determination to be a media critic and feminist.
