Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarships for his family and service in the local community. The first time, he was brought up by Lucious as well as Jessie Selmon on a farm near Eufala located in Oklahoma as the eldest of their nine children. A second reason was his father was the only of three brothers to play for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for the entire year. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the USA. For three seasons as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. In his role as a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third time in 1975. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout his time in college. After college he settled in Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers played all-pro three times and started his business career. In 1988, he was working as an Account Relation Manager at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as one of the top 10 young men of the United States. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds in his college days. He captained the 1975 team. He joined at the University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
